Metro Government Surplus Vehicle Auction

Over 80 vehicles owned by the Louisville - Jefferson County Metro Government will be offered at public auction.  Many of these vehicles were former polices cars with the police vehicle upgrades.  These vehicles have been determined surplus and many will be sold to the highest bidder.  Nearly every vehicle will have title & keys, but some vehicles may be sold for parts or salvage only and titles may not be obtained for these types vehicles.

Any vehicle may be withdrawn from the auction inventory at the discretion of the Metro Government.

  1. Titles & keys will be available for almost every vehicle.  All vehicles & items sold at auction will be sold as-is, where-is, with no warrantees or guarantees, and any vehicle purchased from these auctions will be at the risk of the buyer.
  2. Neither Metro Government nor the Auction Company will be responsible for accidents and all parties entering the impound facility does so at their own free will and personal risk. 
  3. Bid numbers will be issued from 8:30 AM – 10:00 AM on the day of auction.
  4. A current valid identification must be presented at time of bidder registration in order to obtain a bidder’s number.  
  5. Without exception all purchases must be paid in full on the day of auction.  Purchase receipts will be ready immediately after the auction unless announced differently. 
  6. Payments will be made to Metro Louisville Government and not to the Auction Company.  Full payments will be required at time of auction and the only acceptible forms of payment accepted by the Metro Government will be: cash, credit cards, certified check, cashier's check and money order.  Cash payments will not be accepted in denomenations smaller than $50 dollar bills without correct change.
  7. All purchases must be paid for in full before vehicles or items removed from the impound lot and the receipt must be available for review upon request by impound lot personnel. Dealers will need to bring a copy of their dealer's certificate, KY residents will need to have titles/ownership transferred on vehicles before the vehicles will be released from the auction location.
  8.  Metro Government will not provide assistance loading, towing, or moving vehicles, NO EXCEPTIONS! 
  9. The only acceptable pick-up times will be as follows:  Tuesday, June 2nd, 12 - 3 PM, Wednesday, 12 - 3 PM & Thursday, 12 - 3 PM.  Vehicles not removed by 3:00 PM on Thursday will be charged a $11.00 daily impound fee on each vehicles left beyond the 3:00 PM deadline.  
  10. Metro Government and or the Auction Company assume no responsibility for any loss or damage.
  11. No work is to be done on any vehicle while on the Impound Lot.
  12. No alcohol, illegal drugs or weapons of any kind are allowed on the lot.
  13. No dumping of trash, tires or car parts, anyone caught dumping will be barred from the lot.
  14. No one allowed on the lot after dark.
  15. No one under 18 is allowed on the lot.
  16. Any bidder who does no pay for their bids will be excluded from all future Metro Government Auctions.  Anyone barred from previous auctions will not be issued a bidder card and will be escorted from the facility. 
  17. All vehicles are sold, as-is, where-is, with no warranty, no refunds, no exchanges, some vehicles may not have titles, and some vehicles may be sold for scrap or salvage only.  Additional terms may be announced at time of auction and announcements made at time of auction shall take precedence over all previous announcements oral or written.
